Dr. Gustavo Vulcano is Professor of Operations Management and
Academic Dean in the School of Business at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella
(UTDT), and Independent Researcher at the National Scientific and Technical
Research Council (CONICET) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was the Program Chair
of the Master in Management (MiM) + Analytics at Di Tella (2017-2022).
Prof. Vulcano obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in
Computer Science from the University of Buenos Aires in 1997, and his Ph.D in
Decision, Risk and Operations from the Graduate School of Business, Columbia
University, New York, in 2003.
Before joining UTDT, Gustavo was full time faculty at the
Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University, for the period
2002-2017, where he obtained his tenure as Associate Professor in 2012. He is
currently adjunct professor at NYU, teaching courses for the MBA and the Master
of Science in Business Analytics. He has also been visiting professor at The
Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, during 2019 and 2020, and at the
Columbia Business School in 2022.
His research areas include revenue and pricing
analytics, retail operations, and supply chain management. He was published in
the premier international journals in the field, including Operations Research, Management Science, and Manufacturing and Service Operations Management.
Currently, he serves as co-editor of the Revenue Management & Market
Analytics area in Operations Research. He also served
as chair of the INFORMS Revenue Management and Pricing Section for the period
2016-17.
In addition, Prof. Vulcano has been involved in
international consultancy projects related to service operations, including
Delta Airlines and Sabre Holdings in USA; Movie in Uruguay; and locally for
Fundación Perez Companc, Standard Bank (currently, ICBC), Flechabus holding
group, and Aerolíneas Argentinas.
