Health Insurance

UTDT requires all exchange and free mover students to provide proof of comprehensive medical services valid in Argentina prior to course enrollment. The service must cover the entire period from the student’s initial entry into the country until the last day of exams at UTDT. Failure to submit proof of valid coverage that meets UTDT’s requirements by the stated deadline may result in the University disenrolling the student from their courses.

Before purchasing any service, it is important to carefully read all of its features. It is also essential to understand the difference between travel insurance and medical coverage.

Travel insurance or medical coverage?

Travel insurance is a temporary service designed to assist travelers during specific periods away from their place of residence. It typically includes emergency medical care, medical transportation, repatriation, and assistance with unexpected events such as lost luggage or flight cancellations. It usually does not include dental services or discounts on medications, glasses, orthopedic supplies, etc., and it has an overall spending limit for the contracted period.

A medical coverage, such as William Hope, is a private healthcare system that provides preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services through a network of providers and clinics, with regular plans and coverage for medical and dental consultations, tests, and treatments of all kinds—including physical therapy—without being limited to emergencies and without co-pays. In the case of William Hope, it also includes coverage for medical emergencies abroad.

What services does UTDT require?

UTDT will only accept medical services that include all of the following benefits in Argentina, in addition to emergency medical services in neighboring countries:

  • Medical diagnosis and treatment
  • Preventive medicine
  • Treatment of chronic illnesses
  • Hospitalization and surgery
  • Mental health treatment (therapy, medication, and hospitalization)
  • First aid and medical transportation
  • Paramedical services
  • Medical evacuation
  • Repatriation of mortal remains

Medical services accepted by UTDT

The University recommends the William Hope plan since its coverage for international students includes all of the services listed above with no deductibles or copayments. It also covers dental health and offers discounts on medications and orthopedic and optical supplies. The semester cost is USD 468.
